Emphasis on Mindfulness

New episode! Listen here or wherever you get your podcasts!

Courtney has said "mindfulness" in just about every episode. What does that even mean? How do we get there? And what does meditation have to do with it?

Today's episode is a toe-dip into the vast practice of meditation and how that leads us toward a life of mindfulness. Courtney shares her background as a certified meditation teacher, provides a very brief history of meditation as a practice in Asia and the United States, and covers some of the more practical aspects of meditating in the 21st century. The benefits of meditation for the mind, body, and spirit are also discussed.

This is a topic that warrants its own series of episodes so please share your thoughts, reactions, and questions in the comments. We'll respond to those in future episodes! If you practice, what tips would you share with listeners? What parts of the practice leave you feeling stuck? How can we support you moving forward?

After the main discussion, Courtney also revives her two minute meditations by leading us in a short, shared practice.

Shout outs in this episode include Jon Kabat-Zinn, Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, and Sharon Salzberg.
